　　Snow-bound

　　A chill no coat, however stout,Of homespun stuff could quite shut out,A hard, dull bitterness of cold

　　That checked, mid-vein, the circling race

　　Of life-blood in the sharpened face.

　　The coming of the snow storm told.

　　The wind blew east: we heard the roar

　　Of ocean on his wintry shore

　　And felt the strong pulse throbbing there

　　Beat with low rhythm our inland air

　　Meanwhile we did our nightly chores

　　Brought in the wood from out of doors

　　Littered the stalls, and from the mows

　　Raked down the herd‘s grass for the cows

　　Heard the horse whinying for his corn

　　And sharply clanging horn on horn

　　Impatient down the stanchion rows

　　The cattle shake their walnut bows

　　While, peering from his early perch

　　Upon the scaffold‘s pole of birch

　　The cock his crested helmet bent

　　And down his querulous challenge sent

　　感覺(jué)到那股強(qiáng)勁的脈搏

　　伴著陸上空氣的緩慢節(jié)奏跳動(dòng)

　　期間，我們正為夜間事務(wù)操勞

　　從門(mén)外抱來(lái)木柴

　　將畜欄鋪上干草

　　從草堆上給母牛耙下草料

　　馬兒嘶鳴，爭(zhēng)搶它們的玉米（英語(yǔ)詩(shī)歌 ）

　　小牛晃動(dòng)著胡桃木枷，尖利的牛角碰撞得鏗鏗作響

　　暴躁地把欄桿掀倒

　　此刻，公雞早已占據(jù)了高高的樺木臺(tái)架

　　向下觀望

　　彎曲著那雞冠倒豎的頭

　　撒下一串暴怒不平的挑戰(zhàn)
