Your family condition, your personal ability, your social intercourse ,your subject and the job you want to do, these things show you the reality and lead you to establish a dream.

The self changed, got affected, broken, destroyed, but another one would evolve -- sometimes stronger, sometimes hateful, sometimes not wanting to be there at all.The self was not constant. And how many times would my self have to die before I realized that it was never alive in the first place?I grew up on the coast of England in the '70s. My dad is white from Cornwall, and my mom is black from Zimbabwe. Even the idea of us as a family was challenging to most people. But nature had its wicked way, and brown babies were born. But from about the age of five, I was aware that I didn't fit. I was the black atheist kid in the all-white Catholic school run by nuns.I was an anomaly, and my self was rooting around for definition and trying to plug in. Because the self likes to fit, to see itself replicated, to belong. That confirms its existence and its importance. And it is important.

　　大家好！我是來自夾江縣新場中學(xué)的李立慧。衷心感謝市教研室給我們提供這樣一個(gè)平臺與同行一起來探討初三英語教學(xué)工作。很榮幸有這樣的機(jī)會和大家一起探討英語教學(xué)。雖然我從事了十年的英語教學(xué)，但還是覺得教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)非常不足，教學(xué)方式還跟不上新課標(biāo)的要求。因此有哪些缺點(diǎn)與不足之處，請給予指正，以便在今后的教學(xué)中加以改進(jìn)和提高。

　　英語是一門語言的學(xué)習(xí)過程，要體現(xiàn)聽說讀寫的過程�！缎抡n標(biāo)》要求把時(shí)間讓給學(xué)生，要求采取“以學(xué)生為主，教師為輔”的教學(xué)手段。我們很多時(shí)候是做不到的。農(nóng)村的教學(xué)設(shè)施簡陋，學(xué)生素質(zhì)較低，這讓我們的英語教學(xué)遇到很大的困難，如何提高英語教學(xué)成績我們的一些做法是：

　　1.聽和讀：

　　從初一開始，我就要求學(xué)生買磁帶或是從學(xué)習(xí)機(jī)上下載相應(yīng)的聽力材料。每天至少聽15分鐘，邊聽邊跟讀，這樣大部分的單詞基本上都會讀了。在初一第一學(xué)期，我就教了音標(biāo)，一些學(xué)生能運(yùn)用音標(biāo)來讀單詞，不會讀的跟磁帶學(xué)，還有再不會的，我會讓科代表在早自習(xí)或是下午自習(xí)的時(shí)候教讀。這樣就能節(jié)約時(shí)間，使課堂有更多的時(shí)間進(jìn)行情境交際了。重要的句子對話要求學(xué)生能背。還有就是值日生報(bào)告。內(nèi)容包括：天氣，學(xué)生出勤，上一節(jié)課或近期所學(xué)的重要句子。我是從七年級下學(xué)期開始進(jìn)行，安排學(xué)生按位置進(jìn)行，值日生把星期幾和當(dāng)天的天氣情況寫在黑板的`角落里，并在上課時(shí)做值日生報(bào)告，這樣能使每位學(xué)生都有機(jī)會發(fā)言，并且能迫使較差的學(xué)生去詢問、去準(zhǔn)備。有的成績差的學(xué)生還把發(fā)言寫在本子上，這種做法目的既鍛煉了學(xué)生的膽量和培養(yǎng)學(xué)生開口說英語的能力。同時(shí)也鍛煉了學(xué)生的寫作能力。到九年級畢業(yè)，學(xué)生已經(jīng)能夠表達(dá)很多的內(nèi)容，口語能力也得到一定的提高。

　　2．記和寫：由于在第一期我就教了音標(biāo)，學(xué)生可以根據(jù)音標(biāo)來記單詞，這樣記憶相對就輕松了些，還有就是多聽寫。每一個(gè)單元我會聽寫一次，講完一個(gè)模塊我再聽寫或是默寫一遍。短語和句子就是這樣進(jìn)行。對于不能完成任務(wù)的學(xué)生，課后再到組長那兒完成。期末復(fù)習(xí)的時(shí)候再把一本書的知識從新過一遍，所有的單詞短語句子再重新聽寫或默寫一遍，加強(qiáng)學(xué)生的記憶。至于寫作，我是從第一期就開始的，學(xué)生每周寫一篇作文，每個(gè)學(xué)生親自拿到我面前修改，錯(cuò)誤的地方及時(shí)講解這樣學(xué)生印象比較深刻。即使有時(shí)忙，沒有一個(gè)個(gè)修改，學(xué)生寫了也是有進(jìn)步的。這樣慢慢的學(xué)生就不再懼怕寫作了。

　　學(xué)生的坐位，我是采取優(yōu)差配，這樣成績差的學(xué)生能及時(shí)的問問題，每個(gè)學(xué)生有競爭對手，測試沒考過對手的要多做作業(yè)。這樣學(xué)生沒考上對手后就會下功夫，老考不過會覺得面子上過不去。這樣就能在班上形成一種良好的競爭學(xué)習(xí)意識。

　　臨近中考，大家都將進(jìn)入總復(fù)習(xí)，我的做法是既要面向全體，又要突出優(yōu)生，二者相輔相成。在堅(jiān)持面向全體學(xué)生的同時(shí)，更要注重對優(yōu)生的培養(yǎng)。2．素質(zhì)教育的主陣地在課堂，優(yōu)生培養(yǎng)的主陣地也在課堂。為了避免復(fù)習(xí)課的枯燥無味，課堂我輔以一些小游戲、小競賽等來活躍課堂氣氛，激發(fā)學(xué)習(xí)興趣，調(diào)動(dòng)全體學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)積極性。比如在知識梳理的復(fù)習(xí)課上先引導(dǎo)學(xué)生歸納要點(diǎn)，展開討論；對同學(xué)們提出的疑難問題，首先讓學(xué)生給以解答，培養(yǎng)尖子生；具有代表性的難點(diǎn)，教師給以詳細(xì)指導(dǎo)。這樣既調(diào)動(dòng)了優(yōu)生的積極性又促進(jìn)了基礎(chǔ)較差的學(xué)生，課堂上也就會出現(xiàn)復(fù)習(xí)課難有的活躍氣氛。結(jié)合中考英語復(fù)習(xí)的需要，我們具體進(jìn)行五輪復(fù)習(xí)。

　　第一輪：知識網(wǎng)絡(luò)。針對學(xué)生對已學(xué)基礎(chǔ)知識已遺忘的共性，本著“依鋼靠本”和“溫故知新”的原則，要求學(xué)生一步一個(gè)腳印，使學(xué)生從零散知識自然過渡到知識的系統(tǒng)歸納上，使基礎(chǔ)知識更加條理化，對語單詞短語句子再重新聽寫或默寫一次。每復(fù)習(xí)一冊進(jìn)行一次階段檢測。

　　第二輪：專項(xiàng)練習(xí)。專練訓(xùn)練分為兩類：語法專項(xiàng)與題型專項(xiàng)。按照語法進(jìn)行分類復(fù)習(xí)時(shí)，立足于知識與能力的橫向聯(lián)系，注重學(xué)生應(yīng)用遷移能力和實(shí)戰(zhàn)應(yīng)考能力的提升。

　　第三輪：《中考指南》。對《中考指南》每一部分練習(xí)都進(jìn)行精講精練，其中聽力、完形填空與閱讀理解穿插進(jìn)行。本輪尤其突出閱讀訓(xùn)練，我們精心準(zhǔn)備了10套閱讀訓(xùn)練練習(xí)，每套練習(xí)包括2篇完形填空和4閱讀理解，用于課內(nèi)限時(shí)訓(xùn)練或課后自測，提高學(xué)生的閱讀能力，以更好地適應(yīng)中考。

　　第四輪：集中進(jìn)行模擬訓(xùn)練。針對訓(xùn)練中出現(xiàn)的失分點(diǎn)，再進(jìn)行反復(fù)深入的講解。

　　第五輪：回歸與提高。在考前10天里，我們會一步指導(dǎo)學(xué)生自主鞏固知識，查漏補(bǔ)缺，突出學(xué)生主體，突出考試重點(diǎn)。同時(shí)突出和強(qiáng)化書面表達(dá)訓(xùn)練，并命題10篇作文，一天一篇進(jìn)行當(dāng)堂訓(xùn)練，學(xué)生互改與教師抽改相結(jié)合，并做好講評與指導(dǎo)，提高學(xué)生的寫作能力。

　　我們還將對學(xué)生進(jìn)行答題規(guī)范性訓(xùn)練，培養(yǎng)答題技巧，提高臨場應(yīng)戰(zhàn)能力，并針對具體個(gè)性不同的學(xué)生，給予不同的心理輔導(dǎo)，排除他們的緊張心理。

　　本課是詞匯教學(xué)課，而所學(xué)內(nèi)容又是同學(xué)日常生活中所非常熟悉的事物。因此，從同學(xué)已有的知識經(jīng)驗(yàn)動(dòng)身，我先進(jìn)行一個(gè)chant，”I have a pencil，I have a ruler�！毕绕醋x這些簡單的單詞。這個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)，不只通過chant活躍課堂氣氛，而且通過拼讀這些簡單的單詞，讓每一位同學(xué)都有成績感覺，激起他們的學(xué)習(xí)興趣。從拼讀book，Where is mybook?自然而然地引出書房，在不知不覺中把同學(xué)引入新知識的學(xué)習(xí)中。同時(shí)，在操練新單詞時(shí)，我利用”say something to study�！皝砑ぐl(fā)同學(xué)對所學(xué)新單詞說一些話，防止了單調(diào)的為學(xué)單詞而學(xué)單詞。這樣，既有利于同學(xué)口語的表達(dá)，也在他們已學(xué)的句型中鞏固新單詞，讓新單詞在句子中閃光，這時(shí)同學(xué)各種精彩的詞句也就會出現(xiàn)了。

　　整節(jié)課，我覺得自身不是地道地作為一個(gè)老師在教給同學(xué)這些單詞，同時(shí)也是投入到同學(xué)當(dāng)中，和他們一起學(xué)習(xí)。教師投入了，同學(xué)自然而然就被帶進(jìn)來了。因此，課堂氣氛很好，同學(xué)學(xué)得有勁，老師也教得有勁，課堂效率就高了。

　　通過本節(jié)課，也發(fā)現(xiàn)了自身在很多方面，也還有缺乏之處，如Let’sdo的時(shí)候，我是沒有讓同學(xué)完整地聽一遍，就直接讓他們做了。應(yīng)該進(jìn)行完整教學(xué)，讓他們先完整地聽一遍，一方面加強(qiáng)他們的聽力能力，另一方面也培養(yǎng)同學(xué)學(xué)會傾聽。在操練Let’sdo的時(shí)候，應(yīng)該先進(jìn)行小組合作訓(xùn)練，讓同學(xué)先在四人小組中先一個(gè)人說指令，再叫起來示范。再則，應(yīng)該把Let’sdo的操練落實(shí)到每一位同學(xué)，同學(xué)之間互相操練，這不只能給每個(gè)同學(xué)動(dòng)手、動(dòng)口的機(jī)會，而且還便于教師進(jìn)行個(gè)別指導(dǎo)。

　　3 My Definition of Success

　　“Once upon a time, there was a king who had a daughter as beautiful as a blooming rose. To all the suitors who came to the king's palace to ask for the hand of the princess, the old king assigned three tasks to be accomplished, each next to impossible. One day, into the king's palace came a handsome young prince..." Well, you know the rest. The three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, with the prince claiming the princess's hand triumphantly.

　　And the ending is always the same, finishing with the line "And they live happily every after."

　　Why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, I would say, so unimaginative? How can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? Because, I think, it is a typical success story. It is highly philosophical and symbolic. By implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.

　　The story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. The reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. If a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. The term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. But as I understand it, the true meaning of success entails a combination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor. To clarify my view, let me give another ogy.

　　If we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away David Seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another David, namely David Beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of accomplishment and the joy that it brings. If we further changed the rules by not allowing Arsenal's defenders to defend, so that Beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. In accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value. The sense of attainment varies in proportion to the degree of difficulties on overcomes.

　　The concept of success is not constant but relative because the nature of difficulty is also relative. Something you do effortlessly might pose a great difficulty for a handicapped person. In acquiring the ability to do the same as you can, he or she achieve success. That's why we greatly admire Stephen Hawking, because, though confined to a wheel chair, he has contributed greatly to the field of science.

　　I myself, a rather shy person by nature who easily suffer from stage fright, had to pluck up great courage to take part in a speech contest like this. I could have stayed away and had an easy time of it by not entering the university level contest.But I chose to accept the challenge and to face the difficulties. Now here I am. If I come out first, it will be a great success for me. If I come out last-I hope this will not be the case-but if I come out last, I will not call my attempt a failure, but will also celebrate it as a true success, because part of my goal is my own character training-to do more assertive, to be brave in face of difficulties. For me, it is a meaningful step forward, all as it is, in the long journey toward the final success in my life, because I have truly gained by participating.

　　Let us return to our handsome young prince and the 4-step definition of success. You my have noticed that the usual worldly criteria of wealth, position and fame were not mentioned as part of the story, but rather, it emphasized the process of overcoming difficulties. The ancient wisdom had already defined the meaning of success, and this is my definition, too.
